Grazing for Soil and Landscape Health – Webinar

Online event

26 October 2026, 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM

Hosted by Soils for Life

Join landowner, Ben Simpson, David McLean from RCS, Stephen Stacey from CarbonLink, and Soils for Life. Get an inside look at how improved grazing and soil health at Thistlebank has created an opportunity for a soil carbon project, and how Ben’s started implementing land management in the first year of his Project with CarbonLink.

Want to see what a change in grazing looks like on a 22,800 ha beef property?

Ben and Kim run Thistlebank, a 22,800 ha beef cattle operation. Since 2022 they have moved 6,000 ha to intensive cell grazing and manage the other 16,800 ha with a less intensive rotational approach. They made the change to lift profitability, and it worked quickly. They have seen early gains in carrying capacity, drought planning and responsiveness, and they ranked in the top 20% for profitability on RCS’s Farmeye benchmarking platform in both 2023 and 2024.

During the webinar you will:

  • Get a practical introduction to the Practice Guide to Regenerative Grazing and how to use it on farm
  • Hear from Ben about the grazing practices he has put in place and what he has seen since
  • Learn grazing management principles from RCS’s David McLean and how to apply them in your own context
  • See how better grazing and soil health at Thistlebank created the opportunity for a soil carbon project with CarbonLink, and how Ben has started land management in the first year
  • Ask questions and compare notes with other farmers
