CarbonLink is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Soil Scientist Meghan Barnard, who has been named the recipient of the 2026 PSK Environmental / Soil Science Australia Emerging Leader Award.
The award recognises emerging professionals who are making a significant contribution to Australia’s soil science sector through research, innovation and industry leadership.
Meghan received the award following an impressive presentation showcasing her involvement in a CarbonLink soil organic carbon project in Central Queensland. The judging panel commended her ability to clearly explain the complexities of soil carbon quantification and associated analytical techniques while delivering an engaging and accessible presentation.
Since joining Soil Science Australia’s Queensland Branch in 2022, Meghan has also played an active role in supporting the professional development of the soil science community.
As part of the award, Meghan receives a $2,000 prize to support her attendance at the 2026 Soil Science Australia National Conference in Boorloo (Perth).
